The history of the township has its roots in the middle of the 16th century. The first mention in the annals of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania dates back to 1582. In 1924 Begoml became a district center, and in 1938 - a township. During the Great Patriotic War, partisan brigades "Zheleznyak", "Uncle Kolya" were established here, underground Komsomol, the airfield operated. By the decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, on June 29, 2009, Begoml was awarded a pennant for his courage and fortitude during the war.
